Take your DJ skills to the next level with our Intermediate DJ Course! If you've mastered the basics and are ready to refine your technique, this course is designed to push your abilities and expand your musical creativity.
In this online course, you’ll build on your foundation and learn:

  • Setting up Rekordbox
Rekordbox acts as a digital storage unit for DJs, helping them organize music like vinyl records. Users download tracks from platforms such as Beatport and Bandcamp, manage metadata in iTunes, and create structured playlists for performances. The software features various subscription plans, offering export and performance modes. DJs can set up tracks for beat sync and use a traffic light system to identify compatible tracks for mixing.
  • Understanding Beat Grids and Hot Cues
Beat grids can misalign, impacting playback, but technology helps correct them. Manual adjustments may still be needed. Setting memory points at the start of records allows for quick access during performances. Hot cues mark transitions and manage track blending. Identifying blending moments and adjusting timing enhances mixes. Markers guide bass switches and play presses, while cue points aid in track management. Looping techniques extend mixes and smooth transitions.
  • Planning a set and exporting to usb
Planning a DJ set requires careful organization of music into playlists and creating a dedicated playlist folder. Intros play a vital role in resetting energy and grabbing attention. Effective mixing techniques involve blending tracks in key, using markers for smooth transitions, and managing energy levels. A traffic light system aids in organizing music to identify compatible tracks. Proper USB selection is essential for exporting music and ensuring performance readiness.
  • CDJ 3000's and Pitch technquies
The CDJ 3000 is introduced with a focus on its power button and USB input. Users learn to navigate USB sources and organize tracks by years. BPM changes are emphasized, highlighting ear training and visual matching. The screen features, including waveform displays and hot cues, are explained. Practical mixing techniques are demonstrated, with a focus on matching tracks and using visual cues, while advanced skills stress the importance of markers and attentive listening.
  • Loops
Creating loops before drops involves using four or eight beat loops. The loop function allows for both automatic and manual adjustments. Loop size can be easily modified, facilitating the creation of rhythms and drum fills. Utilizing loops offers control over playback pace, making it an essential tool for effective mixing.
  • Eq & Filter mixing
Beginner courses teach basic EQs for blending and mixing, while intermediate courses focus on filter sections for improved mixing. Combining EQ and filters leads to smoother transitions, particularly in hypnotic styles. Each channel features a filter section for precise adjustments, with high pass filters removing low-end frequencies. Unique techniques enhance drops and engage listeners, making filters and EQs vital for advanced mixing on the A nine mixer.
  • Basic Effects on DJMA9
Explore various DJ mixer effects, starting with basic effects like echo, reverb, and spiral. Learn how to select effects on the mixer, focusing on channel and master settings. Understand reverb's function in music, adjusting room size, and best practices during breakdowns. Discover echo effects, their timing, and techniques to control them. Finally, delve into spiral effects and the role of feedback in transitions and buildups.
  • Recording a set
The course emphasizes the importance of practicing by recording oneself to prepare for live performances. It covers various recording techniques, including the DJ M Rec app for easy remastering and the Zoom H6 sound recorder for capturing crowd reactions. Mastering can be done using software like Ableton or directly on a laptop. An invitation to the advanced course is also extended, focusing on complex mixing techniques.

With expert-led video lessons, you'll gain the skills and confidence needed to perform at a higher level and stand out in any DJ setting.
